Tell Lie Vision's new rendition of their original song Fireman was released just 3 weeks ago on 31st Dec 2016. The 5-piece Alternative Rock/Post-Hardcore band took a creative twist to the song and gave it a melancholy tone. The usually drum thrashing Lester Chua was on the
synth and more lyrics were added to the song which was performed by Vikkash Suruchand, one of the two guitarists. The band took a brave step into venturing their brand of sound and have done so throughout their journey of four years.

The band was formed in September 2012 and had undergone a lot of challenges together. Throughout their journey as local musicians, they've won quite a few awards. Tell Lie Vision took second place for the Thunder Band Slam in 2012 not forgetting their lead singer, Hasif
Jasman, who won the "Best Vocalist" Award as well. They came in first for Pop-Up Noise and RP's Band Competition in 2013 and was listed as one of the eight Baybeats Budding Bands of 2016. They've come a long way as young musicians, from performing in their own school, Republic Polytechnic to performing at Baybeats Music Festivals in town. They have definitely become a crowd favorite.

A HIDDEN MEANING: The band's name hints to their fans about their opinion of the media in a word play. It indicates that the television which refers to the media tells lies. Hence, Tell Lie Vision.  Photo By: Salwa Suandi

Although the new twist to Fireman was a big change to the usual head banging tunes, the new sound of the song still sounded just as well as the original. Having missed out on the beat of the drums, the synth was used and can be heard throughout the entire song as the main groove. It brought the mood of solemnity and somber. The new lyrics was not at all overwhelming but instead, complemented Hasif's singing. It was played at a lower volume and brought out the message of the song. The message is to live life to the fullest and to not let others bring us down. The song, of course, worked well for Hasif's vocals, allowing him to stretch his notes. This made the new Fireman song melodic to the ears.

The band also added in their release of the song, a music video. They showed a variety of shots of the band performing the new rendition of the song. They played with varying shots during the performance such as close-ups of the band members playing their instruments,
changing the focus of the lens on different members as they sang and zooming in and out of the shots. This perfectly portrayed the mood of the song and creativity of the band. The shots were timed to match the beats to the tee and the ending of it showed the solemn face of Hasif. I felt that this particular shot was a great way to end it.

I think this song deserves 4 out of 5 stars. The vocals were great and the entire song, although very different, gave a new look to the band. I would have loved to hear more of the band's guitarists. An additional guitar solo would have topped it off. The song is currently only available on their YouTube channel and is not yet out for sale. The rest of the band's original songs are up for sale on their Facebook page as well as their band website. Give the song a try and have a listen to yourself! If you do like what you hear and want to see them live, you're in luck! They are performing at Sentosa Gateway on the 12th of March
for Rock Fest.
